Our Speakers
Jason O’Brien
Jason O’Brien is a biotechnology leader specializing in fermentation and biochemical manufacturing. As Senior Director of Fermentation R&D at Cargill, he leads process development and research initiatives that drive efficiency and cost reduction. His background spans operations and process engineering across a range of biotechnology applications—from large-scale production to early-stage scale-up. Jason holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Brian Lefebvre
Brian Lefebvre is Director of R&D – Fermentation at Cargill, where he leads efforts to enhance existing commercial fermentations and develop new fermentation processes. His experience includes more than a decade in industrial biotechnology, five years as a chemical engineering faculty member, and another decade as a co-founder of a startup focused on biophysical analysis equipment. Brian earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware, and completed postdoctoral research in Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania.
