Curiosity and creativity filled Reiman Gardens during this year’s Science with Cyclones event. Now in its third year, the program showcased Iowa State University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences students as they brought science to life through interactive demonstrations and hands-on learning experiences. Visitors explored how lightning forms, discovered the ecological benefits of prairie strips in Iowa, and learned about the human body's blood system—all guided by Dr. Taylor Sklenar from the Department of English. Even Scientist Cy joined in, adding excitement to the evening of exploration.

Inspired by The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science’s Flame Challenge, Science with Cyclones invites students to share scientific ideas in creative and accessible ways that make learning enjoyable for all ages. The event continues to grow as a celebration of collaboration, public engagement, and the art of communicating science.
A sincere thank-you to everyone who contributed to another successful year of Science with Cyclones.
